Environment

The   EU   Tax   Observatory   is   an   independent   research   laboratory   hosted   at   the   Paris   School   of Economics, directed by Gabriel Zucman. It conducts innovative research on taxation, contributes to a democratic and inclusive debate on the future of taxation, and fosters a dialogue between the scientific community, civil society, and policymakers in the European Union and worldwide.

The Paris School of Economics is a private non-profit research foundation. PSE develops economic research of the highest international level and brings together a community of 140 researchers and around  200  PhD  students.  It  unites  universities  and  grandes  écoles  to  foster  exchanges  between economics and other social sciences, disseminate their work to a wide audience, and develop multiple partnerships with public institutions and private organizations.

 

Position

You will participate in the Observatory’s events organization and communication activities, and work under the direction of the General Manager.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Event Management:
    • Organization and coordination of events: Design, plan, and execute internal and external events (conferences, seminars, roundtables, webinars, report launches, etc.) in line with the Observatory’s themes.
    • Vendor management: Select and coordinate vendors (venues, caterers, technicians, etc.) to ensure the smooth running of events.
    • Event logistics: Manage logistical aspects such as venue bookings, registration management, guest reception, and technical equipment.
    • Event budget tracking: Prepare and monitor event budgets, ensuring financial constraints are respected.
    • Liaison with speakers: Coordinate with speakers, invitees, and participants (sending invitations, following up on confirmations, welcoming speakers).
  • External and Internal Communication:
    • Communication strategy: Contribute to defining the overall communication strategy of the Observatory, in collaboration with the management and communication and research teams.
    • Content creation: Write press releases, newsletters, website content, and other communication materials related to events.
    • Social media management: Promote events and publications, and conduct strategic monitoring.
    • Website management: With the communication’s team, update the website with new publications, events, and news.
    • Creation of visual content: Coordinate the design of visual materials for events (posters, banners, infographics) with designers or by using internal tools.
    • Monitoring and benchmarking: Keep track of trends in communication and event management, and propose innovative ideas for the Observatory’s activities.

You will be part of an agile and dynamic team, fully committed to the institution’s development and influence.

 

Profile

Master’s degree in communication, event management, or another relevant field, you have at least two years of experience in a similar position, ideally within an intellectual or policy-oriented context (research institution, NGO, think tank, public organization).

You have an excellent command of both English (working language) and French, both written and spoken, strong writing skills, and outstanding organizational abilities. You possess project management and budget tracking skills, and are proficient in social media management and content creation.

Independent and proactive, you are able to meet deadlines and quickly find solutions to handle unexpected situations. Your interest in and ability to work in an international environment will be highly valued.
